Milgem starts sea trials (Pictures)

Turkey’s indigenous Ada-class corvette started sea trials in the Sea of Marmara near Istanbul, TRDEFENCE sources reported on Friday. TCG Heybeliada (F-511) is the first of eight corvettes and four TF-100 class light frigates to be built under Turkish Navy’s Milgem (National Ship) program.

Sea trials and integration of various other combat systems and components are expected to continue throughout the first quarter of 2011. TCG Heybeliada is expected to be commisioned in April.
